About us

Our Mission

Carstairs Minor Soccer Association (CMSA) is a member of Big Country Soccer Association (BCSA) of Alberta.  We operate a community-based soccer program in the community of Carstairs, Alberta.  The Association is organized and run by a group of dedicated volunteers, led by a volunteer Board, who believe in the value of offering the youth in the community an opportunity to learn and play the game of soccer.  We foster support and soccer development at the grassroots and community level with ages from 2-years of age and up.

Our approach to soccer player development follows the objectives and programs by Canada Soccer Association (CSA), and Alberta Soccer Association (ASA) for Long Term Player Development (LTPD).  This is fostered by having age-appropriate curriculums for coaching to adhere to in order to support the Canada Soccer Grassroots Standards.  We believe in not just the development of the player but also provide support to the development of the individual through sport using the 4-corner development model for player development:

Physical Development
Technical/ Tactical Development
Social/ Emotional Development
Mental/ Phycological Development

VISION

The Crossfield Soccer Association aspires to be an outstanding educational-athletic organization that provides a high-quality experience for every athlete. A high-quality experience is one in which every athlete:

Is coached using the principles of Positive Coaching,
Has fun playing the game,
Feels like an important part of the team regardless of performance,
Learns “life lessons” that have value beyond the playing field; and
Learns the skills, tactics and strategies of the game and improves as a player.

MISSION

The Crossfield Soccer Association is committed to providing well-organized soccer recreation appropriately structured to accommodate any level of play commensurate with our players’ individual abilities, potential, and interest and to promoting a positive youth sports culture that teaches life lessons and “honors the game” for all players in the Crossfield, Alberta area.  Our sporting philosophy is based on the following objectives:

To provide and support programs for the involvement and enjoyment of members of the Crossfield Soccer Association in support of a long-term development of the sport of soccer.
To encourage and welcome parental support in youth soccer development.
To encourage good sportsmanship through development and competition in the sport.
To ensure all participants in all programs have fun and equal opportunity to actively participate in the sport.
To develop each athlete's basic skills and conditioning that they can apply to the sport.
To develop good coaching and officiating capabilities in the sport.
To create and maintain a spirit of friendly competition without fear of bullying.
Our goal is to foster a positive player development experience that can lead to options in the sport of soccer while also providing a supportive environment that also fosters the development of the individual that can contribute to a positive approach to their future endeavors.

We believe that a community-lead association can only exist through active support and collaboration with parents, volunteers, and the community for which Crossfield Soccer Association operates.  The benefits to players are only made possible by an active, responsible, and accountable community.
